**NORTH EASTERN ONTARIO FAMILY AND CHILDREN’S SERVICES NEWS RELEASE**

The week of October 14 to 20 marks Foster Family Appreciation Week, which raises awareness about foster care and aims to celebrate and appreciate the invaluable contributions foster parents make to the lives of children and youth in need.

To give back to the community as a whole, North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS) is teaming up with the Timmins Fire Department and Dailey’s Your Independent Grocer to collect donations for the Timmins Food Bank on Friday, October 19.

Community members are being encouraged to come out to Dailey’s Your Independent Grocer on Algonquin from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and donate canned goods and non-perishable food items, in hopes of “Filling a Fire Truck.”

Hots dogs, hamburgers and beverages will be available for purchase by donation. All proceeds from the event will help support families in need through the Timmins Food Bank. Complimentary reusable grocery bags, promoting the need for foster parents in our community, will be handed out to customers throughout the day.

NEOFACS acknowledges the extraordinary efforts made by foster parents in opening their hearts and their homes to children and youth in our community. To learn more about fostering with NEOFACS, email foster@neofacs.org, call toll-free 1-800-665-7743 or visit www.neofacs.org/foster.
