Timmins Police Official-Badge

The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into a theft of a cell phone which occurred at an “employee only” section of a local restaurant on August 30th.

An employee at the restaurant discovered that his cell phone, valued at nearly $850.00, had been taken from his personal effects.

An investigation was initiated and, thanks in part to video surveillance equipment, a suspect was identified, and the cell phone was recovered by the Timmins Police Service.

Additionally, Justice OKIMAW, 21, of Timmins has been charges with:

  • One count of Theft Under $500 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

She was arrested by the Timmins Police Service on August 31st and is awaiting a bail hearing scheduled for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.

Meantime, the Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into a theft of men’s apparel a
which occurred at a Timmins Square retailer on August 31st.

A loss prevention officer observed a man leave the store without paying for the article of clothing and apprehended the suspect and dutifully handed him over to the Timmins Police Service.

The item in question was recovered.

As a result, Jonathan TIPPENESKUM, 35, of Moosonee, Ontario has been charges with:

  • One count of Theft Under $500 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of Fail to Comply With Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The suspect remain in police custody and is awaiting a bail hearing scheduled for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
