KiSS 99.3 and 92.1 Rock station staff were facing the cold on Friday for a good cause.

For the 12th Annual Ton in a Tundra event, KiSS 99.3 and 92.1 Rock radio station staff were seen outside grocery stores all over the city with Toyota Tundra Trucks from James Toyota. Trucks were setup at Food Basics, Levi’s Foodland, Dailey’s Independent, Pick of the Crop, and Giant Tiger in Timmins and South Porcupine.

Throughout the day, staff collected non-perishable food in the back of the Tundra Trucks, as well as cash. A total of 10 trucks of food (12,000 lbs) was collected, and $11,121.94 was raised.

“It was absolutely incredible,” said Val Venneri from James Toyota, “more than we could have ever expected.”

The food and money is going towards the Christmas Basket Program. This program helps feed the hungry with food baskets that are put together from the donations collected. Venneri says the results from this year’s Ton in a Tundra really shows how charitable the community is, especially considering the cold temperatures.

“This is the city with the heart of gold,” he said, “they were so generous. I’m so grateful, I feel blessed to have so many people to stop in and donate. Especially in the cold; it was the coldest day of the year. It was just absolutely amazing, I’m so thankful.”

The 12th year of Ton in a Tundra was a huge success, and staff from the Rogers stations are thanking the public for coming out and making this the best Ton in a Tundra ever!
