**DSB1 NEWS RELEASE**


On Tuesday, December 18th, the Director of Education, Lesleigh Dye, presented the District School Board Ontario North East (DSB1) 2017-2018 Director’s Annual Report to the Board of Trustees.

The report features positive learning stories form the 2017-2018 school year. The stories are anchored in the
priorities identified in the Board’s Strategic Plan: equity, innovation and culture. The report highlights initiatives
aimed at removing barriers for students, innovative teaching practices and a culture of wellness and learning.

The Director and Superintendents spoke about a story related to their portfolios. The featured pieces focused
on reconciliation actions, an increase in psychoeducational assessments, a Specialist High Skills Major
program as well as French Language Services initiatives.

“The Annual Report brings together a full year of learnings and good news. The Board of Trustees was
pleased to receive this report and celebrate the successes from the past school year”, says Bob Brush, Board
Chair. Dye adds “We are proud to share these powerful learning stories with our Trustees and our
communities. We look forward to building on the successes highlighted in the report to support a positive
future story for each learner at DSB1”.

The Board’s Annual Report also features the Board’s 2018-2019 Budget and 2017-2018 EQAO results. The
