**CITY OF TIMMINS NEWS RELEASE**

On Sunday, February 24 at 10 am, the City of Timmins declared a significant weather event, calling for changes once again to snow removal operations.

As per the February 15 media release, “we are doing our best to catch up and widen up all of our streets, however, with the amount of snow so far in February we are running into challenges that are pushing our equipment, employees and contractors to the limit,” explained Public Works Manager Ken Krcel.

Once again, we are asking for a level of patience and reminding residents that concerns should be expressed in a respectful manner.

Crews are being mobilized to ensure main arterial roads are safe and moving on to secondary roads as permitted. The large amount of snow and strong gusting winds over the weekend, combined with warmer weather has made the snow pack on streets and roads very soft, and graders are now also being used to try and peel off that lower layer.

Snow removal will continue, however, due to the amount of snow throughout the city, the regular table top finish that everyone is used to will not be happening at this time as we have too many streets that are restricted, and we just need to make room for more snow.
