**SOUTH PORCUPINE OPP NEWS RELEASE**


On March 26, 2019, members of the Iroquois Falls Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), OPP Emergency Response Unit (ERT) and the OPP K-9 Unit executed a Cannabis Act (CA) search warrant at a residence in Iroquois Falls, Ontario.

 

As a result of the search warrant, a male and female were arrested.  The OPP seized amounts of cannabis marihuana, cannabis shatter, cannabis concentrate edibles, cannabis resin (hashish) and psilocybin with an estimated street value of $75,000.

 

Mason EMANS, 18 years old, of Iroquois Falls, Ontario, has been charged with the following:

 

  • Possession for the purpose of distributing, contrary to section 9(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA),
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code (CC) – 2 counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC and,
  • Fail to comply with sentence, contrary to section 137 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA)

 

The accused was released on a Recognizance. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 14, 2019, in Timmins, Ontario.

Also charged is Mackenzie KNOWLES, 21 years old, of Iroquois Falls, Ontario. Her charges are as follows:

 

  • Possession for the purpose of distributing, contrary to section 9(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA),
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code (CC) – 2 counts

 

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear. She is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 14, 2019, in Timmins, Ontario.
