The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority is reporting that snow depth and water content conditions for this time of year are above normal. In fact, water content variances are between 132% and 185% above normal throughout the entire Upper Mattagami Watershed.

Forecasts for the week show minimal precipitation with no major weather systems expected. Daytime temperatures are expected to range from 0oC to +11oC  for the next 5 to 7 days.

The Winter drawdown of Mesomikenda and Wawaitin are complete and the drawdown of Mattagami Lake and Peter Long are ongoing. The dams are set up to hold elevation near the bottom of the operation range until refilling starts in April.

Local area creeks, including Town Creek and Crawford Creek, are in good shape, according to the report. Town Creek and Crawford Creek are being closely monitored by the Authority and Municipal staff for the potential of ice damming.

The Timmins Flood Advisory Committee begins meetings Wednesday, April 3rd.

The next Watershed Update is expected around April 15th, 2019.
