**JAMES BAY OPP NEWS RELEASE**


On April 6, 2019, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a motor vehicle collision where a motor vehicle had rolled over on Highway 11 west of the Town of Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario.

 

The female driver and the child passenger were uninjured.

 

Police investigation revealed that the driver was impaired by alcohol.

 

The 43-year-old female, of Kapuskasing, Ontario, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the child, has been charged with the following offences:

 

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) CC, and
  • Dangerous Operation contrary to section 320.13(1) CC.

 

She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, Ontario, on June 11, 2019, to answer to the charges.

 

The driver was served with a 90 day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

 

Police are asking the public to call the authorities if they see someone getting behind the wheel after having consumed intoxicating substances.
