**TIMMINS FLOOD ADVISORY COMMITTEE NEWS RELEASE**

The Timmins Flood Advisory Committee reports that water levels on the Porcupine River and Porcupine Lake are continuing to rise slowly in response to the warm weather, snow melt and precipitation. Some residences in the Evans Street area may be affected. The exact extent of any potential flooding is difficult to predict at this time and will depend on the weather. Everyone living near the Porcupine River and Porcupine Lake is encouraged to monitor the conditions that are developing. Although it is too early to predict whether or not flooding will occur, area residents and businesses are asked to be prepared. These preparations would include moving any unsecured items from along the shore to higher ground as well as preparing a Household Emergency Plan that outlines what you need to do should you be asked to leave your home.

This Flood Outlook is for Porcupine River and Porcupine Lake only and does not include the Mattagami River or Kamiskotia Lake, at this time.

Water levels are rising quickly throughout the region and although there is no immediate risk of flooding at the present time, residents living next to the Mattagami River and Kamiskotia Lake should listen for regular updates. Conditions can change quickly. The Committee will continue to meet on a continuous basis and provide regular updates. The general public is advised of these messages through the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority website (http://mrca.timmins.ca) with the flood status icon and a link to information about current conditions.
