**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a Schumacher man with a series of offences stemming from an incident which took place during the early morning hours of Saturday, May 25th on Pine Street South.
While completing routine patrols, a Timmins Police Service officer attempted to have the operator of an ATV come to a stop while on Pine Street South.

The officer was signaling for the ATV operator to do so as he was standing by his parked Timmins Police cruiser.
The operator of the ATV struck the Timmins Police Service cruiser and proceeded to flee from police.
The ATV operator was located and arrested a short while later.

As a result of this incident, Wayne BUTTINEAU, 18, of Schumacher, has been charged with:
– Impaired Operation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Operate Vehicle – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) in Excess of 80 Mgs per 100 Mls of Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Dangerous Operation of Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Novice Driver – BAC Above Zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
– Fail to Remain contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
– Operate Vehicle – Lamps not Lit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
– Drive Off Road Vehicle – No Insurance contrary to the Off Road Vehicles Act
– Fail to Stop – Flashing Red Lights contrary to the Off Road Vehicles Act
– Fail to Surrender Permit contrary to the Off Road Vehicles Act
– Drive Off Road Vehicle – No number plate contrary to the Off Road Vehicles Act

The accused was released from police custody but must attend Provincial Court in Timmins on June 4th to answer to the charges laid against him.
An estimate of the damage to the Timmins Police cruiser has yet to be completed but will be tendered as evidence at trial.
