The Timmins Police Service has completed the initial phases of a comprehensive investigation where a 23 year-old man had sustained a gun-shot wound during an altercation that took place during the early morning hours of Sunday, September 8th at a residence located on Way Avenue.  The wounded man remains in a Sudbury area hospital recuperating from his wounds.  The investigation led to three local suspects being identified by the Timmins Police – Criminal Investigation Division.

During the course of the investigation, one of the suspects had taken up clandestine residency in a unit of a Shirley Street North residential complex in Timmins.  That location was contained until the eventual arrest of the suspect late yesterday afternoon.  The intensive investigation further identified 2 other suspects who had been arrested yesterday as well.  The Timmins Police – Criminal Identification Unit, working in collaboration with its Forensic Identification Unit, ascertained pertinent details of the offence that led to the arrests.

As a result of these incidents, Steven Floyd LEDUC, 36, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– Attempted Murder contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Aggravated Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
– Use Firearm while Committing an Offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Careless Use of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Pointing a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Being the Occupant of a Motor Vehicle with Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of a Loaded Restricted Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– 2 count of Possession of a Firearm contrary to a Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling House contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Breach of Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Breach of Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.

Two other suspects, Leroy Gary BOLGER,30, and Kimberley CALDERWOOD, 24, both of Timmins, have been charged with:
– Attempt Murder contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Aggravated Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
– Use Firearm while Committing an Offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Careless Use of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Pointing a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Being the Occupant of a Motor Vehicle with Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of a Loaded Restricted Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling House contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

These accused persons remain in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against them.

A residence on Shirley Street North remains under the control of the Timmins Police Service until the Forensic Identification Unit has completed its investigative scrutiny of that scene.  This investigation is still under the direction of the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations Division and is ongoing at present in terms of collecting of statements, physical evidence and forensic exhibits.
