**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigations into two separate robbery incidents which have culminated in an arrest of a local suspect.

The robberies occurred on Thursday September 26th at a Schumacher convenience store, and on Friday, September 27th at a convenience store located at the intersection of Bannerman and Mountjoy Street South, respectively.
Based on the outcome of the intensive investigations by the Criminal Investigations Division, the suspect was identified by investigative means.

The suspect was arrested yesterday evening at a Schumacher residence after a containment situation was undertaken by the Timmins Police Service – Emergency Response Team as a public safety precautionary measure.
Based on the outcome of these investigations, Michael ROBERTS, 19, of Timmins has been charged with 2 counts each of:

– Robbery Using a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Use a Firearm While Committing an Offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Carry a Firearm in a Careless Manner contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Handle a Firearm in a Careless Manner contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Pointing a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possess a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Carry a Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Use Disguise With Intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail to comply With Sentence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

He is further charged with a single count of Possession of Property Obtained By Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
