**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**

As a precautionary measure focused on public safety, the Timmins Police Service had advised the administration at Timmins High & Vocational School to engage its “lockdown” procedures based on information received earlier this afternoon.
This measure was deemed necessary for a period of time as a public safety requirement.

Additionally, Ecole Catholique Secondaire Theriault had adopted “Hold and Secure” measures for a brief period of time but has since resumed normal school procedures.
College Boreal and R. Ross Beatty Senior Public School were also collaterally affected by this incident.
Concurrently, a thorough investigation is now underway to determine the validity and extent of the elements of the reported matter
The matter remains under investigation. Anyone with viable information is asked to call the Timmins Police Service at 705-264-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by using the internet at
