A number of incidents have resulted in charges across the region.

 

STABBING

First off, the OPP in Kirkland Lake have charged a 38-year old man in a stabbing incident.

On September 24, 2016, the OPP responded on Taylor Avenue in Kirkland Lake. A 21-year year old male received multiple stab wounds on the lower part of his body. The male suffered non-life threatening injuries. The incident occurred between 3:40 a.m. and 4:20 a.m.

As result of the investigation, Ben BEAUCHAMP of Kirkland Lake was charged with aggravated assault.

The accused was arrested and held pending a bail hearing.

 

ATV THEFT

The Timmins Police Service is in the midst of investigating a theft of an ATV which occurred sometime between 11:00 p.m. on September 25th and 7:00 a.m. on September 26th ,2016, from a Bannerman Avenue residence in Timmins.

The stolen item (pictured) is described as a 2013 Polaris Razor 900cc side by side, bearing Ontario Marker- 92ZW8, VIN- 4XAJT9EA3DF250960.

The vehicle is black in color with green decals and large “fox” decals on both doors.

The vehicle is equipped with Gorilla “Silverback” tires which have an aggressive tread.

The vehicle had a full tank of fuel when it was stolen and has an estimated value of $30,000.

MISCHIEF

The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into an incident of mischief which is alleged to have occurred during the early morning hours of September 24th at a Spruce Street North residence in Timmins.

The distraught suspect is alleged to have taken a yard ornament from a neighboring yard and smashed it against the side of a parked vehicle.

Timmins Police officers were called to the scene and located the suspect without incident.

Briana CABRAL, 23, of Timmins was arrested and charged with:

  • One count of Mischief under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The charged person remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing that was slated for Monday afternoon at Provincial Court in Timmins.

 

THEFT

The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into an incident of theft which is alleged to have occurred during the late evening hours of September 25th at an Algonquin Blvd convenience store in Timmins.

The suspect is alleged to have entered the store and taken a variety of foodstuffs and fled without making any attempt to pay for the goods.

Timmins Police officers were called to the scene and located the suspect a short while later with the help of concerned citizens.

Shawn NAKOGEE, 21, of Timmins was arrested and charged with:

  • One count of Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The charged person remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for Monday afternoon at Provincial Court in Timmins.
