**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an assaultive altercation which occurred during the early evening hours of Saturday, February 22nd at a Kirby Street address.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a complaint regarding a disturbance, where a person had been assaulted by a male suspect.

The victim had sustained considerable bodily injury and lacerations to the face.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, Emile HOOKIMAW, 34, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– Attempt to Commit Murder contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Assault With a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Forcible Confinement contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Utter Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Sexual Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was arrested by the Timmins Police Service and held for a bail hearing which occurred at Provincial Court in Timmins on Monday, February 24th where he was remanded inot custody awaiting a hearing date to answer to the charges laid against him. His next court appearance is to be held by means of video remand at Provincial Court in Timmins on Friday, March 13th
