The Timmins Police Service was called to the scene of a disturbance involving a man who was allegedly accosting another person while carrying an edged weapon during the afternoon hours of Sunday, October 2nd at the intersection of Third Avenue and Cedar Street South in Timmins.

Timmins Police officers responded immediately to the scene and located the man involved in the disturbance who is known to the police.

The man was interviewed by the Timmins Police officers at the scene.

The man was arrested and the weapon was retrieved by the Timmins Police Service without further incident.

Robert TOMAGATICK, 45, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • One count of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Assault With a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The charged person remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
