**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**

The Timmins Police Service has charged 3 men with a number of Criminal Code firearms
offences stemming from a traffic stop that occurred during the early morning hours of Monday,
July 20th on Algonquin Blvd in Timmins.

While completing general patrols of the downtown core, a Timmins Police Service officer
noticed a vehicle being driven in a suspicious manner. The officer initiated a traffic stop of the Nissan Pathfinder with 3 male occupants. The vehicle came to a stop in the parking lot of a local hotel.
While interviewing the occupants, the officer observed a military style rifle in the vehicle.
The firearm, a .22 caliber rifle, was determined to be loaded, upon careful inspection by the
police.

The firearm and $720.00 in Canadian currency was seized by the Timmins Police as evidence.
All three men were arrested without incident.at the scene.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, Kevin ROSS, 41, of Moosonee, Jason PREVOST,
45, of Cochrane, and Morgan FOURNIER, 29, also of Cochrane, have been respectively
charged with:
– Careless use of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of
Canada

– Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of
Canada

– Occupant of a Motor Vehicle – Knowing there is a Firearm Within contrary to the
Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of a Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition contrary to the Criminal Code of
Canada

– Possession of Proceeds of Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
ROSS is further accused of two additional counts of
– Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order contrary to the
Criminal Code of Canada

All accused persons have been released from police custody on the strength of respective
Undertakings compelling them to attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on September 29th to
answer to the charges laid against them.
