blood clinic2Local first responders are taking the call to donate blood.

The Sirens for Life Campaign is back for another year, and Joanne Drake of Canadian Blood Services says it’s crucial to get donations in the summer time because their regular donors are away on vacation.

Drake says the goal is to get 50 units of blood by the end of August, and the campaign to get EMS, OPP, Timmins Police and fire fighters involved helps a lot.

You can donate as well, there is a blood donor clinic running Thursday afternoon from 12:00pm to 2:30pm, and 4:00pm to 6:30pm all at St. Dominique’s Hall on Park Street.

If you don’t know your blood type, they can check for you in as little as five minutes.
