**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with an assault related Criminal Code
offence stemming from an incident that occurred during the early evening hours of Tuesday,
October 27th at a Pine Street South apartment.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a matter where a 33 year old male person had been
stabbed by another person in an unprovoked manner within the apartment.

Upon arrival on scene, Timmins Police Service officers arrested the man responsible for the
assault without further incident having located him within the apartment with the weapon used in
the assault.

Based on the outcome of the investigation into the incident, Joshua GRAVEL, 29, of Timmins
has been charged with:
– Assault With a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possess a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused person remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at
Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against him.
The assaulted man sustained a wound to the lower back.

He was treated at the Timmins and District Hospital for the injury he sustained in the altercation.
The charged person was involved in a previous incident at the same location on October 20th
where a 70 year old male person had been assaulted with a weapon.

Based on the outcome of that separate investigation, Joshua GRAVEL, 29, of Timmins had
been charged with:
– Assault With a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

In this previous instance, Gravel had been released from police custody on the strength of an
Undertaking compelling him to attend Provincial Court on November 17th to answer to the
charge laid against him
