Over 300 forest fires a burning in Ontario but Timmins isn’t feeling the heat.

Fire Information Officer, Shane McCool says cooler weather and rain could help lower the chances of a fire in the region.

“We are expecting to see precipitation in the next few days potentially lowering the risk.  Should the rain not come, the risk will climb higher.”

“At this time we don’t have any fores near the Timmins region.  The closest one is north of Sudbury and it is 0.1 hectares and is contained.”

McCool also says Timmins crews are being deployed to hard hit areas like the Northwest Territories, Alberta, and British Columbia, where over 250 wildfires are burning
