kids fishingCanadians across the country will be getting hooked on fishing July 4th to 12th for Canada’s  National Fishing Week.

National Fishing Week is an annual event celebrating an activity Canadians have enjoyed for generations: recreational fishing. Events and giveaways are occurring across the country to encourage Canadians to get outdoors and enjoy time with their family and friends.

Whether you go for adventure, serenity, or fun, fishing with family and friends is a great way to get away from the stresses of our daily schedules. Fishing is one of the most affordable ways for families to create lasting memories together. Plus, recreational fishing is great for Canada’s economy — to the tune of $8.3 billion annually.

That’s just as much as Canadians spend on beer, and more than what is spent at Tim Hortons nationally.

So far, preparations for National Fishing Week have been a huge success. Thousands of “Catch Fishing: Your Basic ‘How To’ Guide To Fishing In Canada” booklets have been sent out to Canadians all over the country. The booklet can be ordered by visiting www.catchfishing.com. Additionally, Canadians will be able to score free rod and reel packages through various contests, and pick up a few quick tips on the Catch Fishing Facebook page and Twitter. Because of this, Canadians will have the knowledge and opportunity to “Catch Fishing” like never before.

So grab your rod and reel, and let’s go fishing Canada!
