The Timmins Police Service responded to a break and enter in progress early this morning at a church located on Fifth Avenue in Timmins.

The suspect is alleged to have forcibly gained entry into the church and proceeded to ransack the location.

The suspect was arrested by Timmins Police offices as he was fleeing the scene of the break-in and was found to be in possession of a stolen laptop computer.

Upon being searched pursuant to his arrest, the accused is alleged to have been found to be in possession of controlled substances.

Joshua GREXTON, 24, of Timmins has been charged with:

  • One count of Break and Enter contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Mischief Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled drug and Substances Act

The arrested person remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
