Timmins_Police_Service_logo_updThe Timmins Police Service is reminding both drivers and pedestrians to be vigilant when sharing the road.

The Traffic Services section of the Timmins Police Service has received a report involving several pedestrians who were nearly struck by a vehicle when crossing the intersection of Main St & Harold Ave in South Porcupine.

This intersection remains an area of concern for police as there have been several incidents in this area in the past. Officers from the Traffic Services section will be closely monitoring this area to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.

With the warmer weather comes increased foot traffic. Drivers are reminded to be extra cautious when approaching the above mentioned or any other intersection.

Pedestrians must also use caution when crossing the street. Making eye contact with drivers at an intersection is a good way to ensure the driver of the vehicle sees pedestrians who are about to cross the street.

Cross only at designated intersections & crosswalks. Drivers are reminded to come to a full stop before proceeding through an intersection.
