In Timmins, the Health Unit will be offering daily flu clinics weekday afternoons in November from 12:30-5 p.m., 12:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday evenings and and every Saturday morning from 9 a.m.-noon.

Joelle Chartrand, Public Health Nurse at the Porcupine Health Unit says, “Many people think of influenza as a harmless illness, but it can lead to serious complications and can affect anyone. So on your drive home from work and when running around doing errands, drop in to one of our clinics.”

New this year, you’ll be able to book your flu shot appointment on line.According to Chartrand, “All public Porcupine Health Unit flu clinics throughout our area will be listed on our website, so you’ll be able to pick the time that works for you.”

She adds that flu clinics will kick off this season in Timmins on Tuesday November 1st. “We encourage everyone to visit our website to see which flu clinic location and time works for you,” says Chartrand.

The influenza vaccine is also available through health care providers and local pharmacies. Chartrand encourages everyone to get vaccinated. “The best way to protect yourself, your family and the community is to get vaccinated every year,” she says. “The truth is that, for some people, the flu can lead to serious and long-lasting complications.”
