Expect road and business closures downtown throughout summer.

Manager of the BIA, Noella Rinaldo says Hydro One is trying to finish the hydro vaults before it starts snowing.

“They’ve started the aesthetic part it of by cementing the top.  This will give us more place for flowers beds, benches, and garbage cans. We’re not thrilled about more concrete downtown but we can compensate with more flowers.”

She says the next power outage downtown ins June 28th but some businesses will not be affected.

“We will be in touch with the businesses who are being affected by the outages and residents can find out who’s open or not through the BIA’s Facebook page. The good part is we’re now on a divided grid so we don’t have to cut out the whole downtown.”

She adds, they’ll be muddling through the summer hoping the weather cooperates and construction finishes by October.
