Miley Cyrus’ new single, which has already turned into an anthem for 2023, has officially reached No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  “Thankful that Flowers is Number 1 around the world.  This song is dedicated to my fans & the steadfast self love I wish for each of you. Forever grateful,” Miley wrote on Instagram.  This is now Miley’s second number one single.

It’s clear that ‘Flowers’ was inspired by Miley’s relationship with Liam Hemsworth, and the music video features tons of Easter eggs:

  • The drop date: January 13 which is Liam’s birthday.
  • Fans are convinced ‘Flowers’ is a response to Bruno Mars’ ‘When I Was Your Man’ (rumour is, Liam dedicated that song to Miley during their wedding reception)
  • The gold dress Miley wears in the music video is similar to a dress Jennifer Lawrence once wore (J-Law admitted to kissing Liam off-camera during their time on set for The Hunger Games)
  • The black suit we see Miley dance in – it’s a replica of the suit Liam wore to the Avengers: Endgame premiere, where he supposedly asked Miley to ‘behave for once’ after she pretended to lick him
  • The house that’s featured in the video – rumour is, that’s the home ‘Liam brought his mistresses to during his time with Miley’

Although Miley has to yet to address any of these fan theories, her sister Brandi Cyrus somewhat did on her Your Favourite Thing podcast,  “The song did come out on his birthday—was that on purpose? I don’t know. Can’t say. Genius, though.  The narratives are f**king hilarious, but it’s so great. The best PR that could ever happen because it gets people talking about the song on TikTok and it’s everywhere. And it’s just so fun to watch it all play out.  I’m not here to say that’s true and what’s not true. Only Miley knows the truth.”

‘Flowers’ is the lead track off of Miley’s upcoming album, Endless Summer Vacation, due March 10.
