Timmins Police is charging a number of individuals after incidents over last few weeks.

They’re also looking for witnesses to a pedestrian collision in the parking lot of Dailey’s Independent Grocer late last month.

Police say an 88-year old was struck at 2:30pm on October 23rd and was taken to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

They add the driver of the vehicle involved stayed behind and was interviewed by officers.

Meantime, police are wrapping up their investigation into a case involving a stolen vehicle and stolen credit card.

Police responded to a call November 11th about a local man using the card to complete fraudulent purchases at a number of businesses.

He had been identified and police were on the lookout.

This past Monday, he was observed in the north end of the city driving a stolen vehicle from the Petawawa area.

The suspect fled and police didn’t pursue due to public safety concerns.  The vehicle was later found abandoned and on Tuesday, the man was seen walking and was arrested after a foot chase.

43-year old Scott Morris is facing 13 charges in all:

  • One count of Theft of Credit Card contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (credit card)
  • Seven counts of Fraudulent Use of Credit Card contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (stolen vehicle)
  • One count of Flight from Police contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Drive Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Morris was held pending a bail hearing scheduled for today.

And an investigation into threatening text messages are resulting in charges.

Police say 20-year old Brandon Wilson of Timmins is facing two counts of Uttering Threats and another charge for failing to comply with a probation order.

Police say they got a call Tuesday from a person claiming to be receiving messages from someone threatening to cause harm to them and their family.

Wilson was located later that day and was arrested without incident.

His bail hearing was also scheduled for today.
