A location for the proposed Aquatic Centre is now off the table.

City staff has learned that preliminary findings at the Highway 655 site has elevated levels of heavy metal contaminants, and site remediation or Site Specific Risk Assessment would be required.

The proposed location is also a mine tailings fill site.

Council voted to eliminate the location from any further studies as a result.

Results from the study at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex is due back by the end of the year.
