The Northeast Catholic District School Board has decided on the name for their new consolidated school.

St. Paul School will become Pope Francis Elementary, starting September 2017.

The change is bittersweet to those who have passed through those halls growing up—this author included—but the school’s new name is just the start to identify a new beginning for the building.

Pope Francis will be a Kindergarten to Grade 4 school, and will combine St. Paul students with Sacred Heart School students.

Sacred Heart will close its doors at the end of this school year.
