Security features on the seized bills, such as holographic strips, are of poor quality, which is a sign that bills are fraudulent.

Retailers are reminded to take extra measures to verify the legitimacy of bills. Some methods for determining the legitimacy of bills include verifying the texture of bills produced, inspecting printing quality, and comparing to other bills of the same denomination.

Businesses suspecting that bills may be fraudulent are asked to contact the Timmins Police Service at 705-264-1201.
