Attention and momentum continues to gain for the 2017 Stars and Thunder Festival. The week will feature an international fireworks competition, promising to put on a display like no other in Ontario, and local sponsors have come forward to ensure fireworks for Canada Day will be the biggest and best show Timmins has ever seen.

“We’ve come together today to recognize and thank all the local sponsors who have come forward to contribute a total of $50,000 toward the 2017 Canada Day fireworks,” said Mayor Steve Black. “The generous support from our community is a large part of what makes me so proud to live in and represent the City of Timmins. I want to extend a very big thank you to Paul Woodward, and Jeannine Trudel from The Bucket Shop for putting in the time and effort to make today’s announcement possible and pulling this group together.”

“This amazing group effort speaks both to the generosity of our local businesses and support for the event,” continued Mayor Black.

“They have supported Canada Day fireworks in the past and this year have ramped up their efforts to match the scale of the festival! We can’t thank this group enough for their fundraising and sponsorships, and can’t wait to see the phenomenal fireworks display on Canada Day.”

The contribution will not only ensure one of the best fireworks shows in Ontario, but will also help offset some of the costs of the eight-day festival.
