The Timmins Police Service responded to a traffic complaint during the early morning hours of Saturday December 24th near the downtown core in Timmins.

The vehicle was located a short while later and the driver was arrested based on the investigative observations made by the officer. Upon arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of a substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

As a result, the 21 year old Timmins man faces charges of:

  • Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Operate Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Mgs of Alcohol in 100 Mls of Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • Driving While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – No currently Validated Permit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Drive Motor Vehicle in Contravention of Conditions contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear requiring that he attend Provincial Court in Timmins on January 10th to answer to the charges laid against him.

In a second incident that same day, a traffic stop to verify sobriety was undertaken by a Timmins Police officer.

Based on the observations made by the officer, a demand for a breath sample was made of the driver. The 48 year old Timmins man is alleged to have refused or failed to comply with the demand made of him.

As a result, the man was arrested. Upon arrest the man was allegedly found to be in possession of controlled substances. The suspect has been charged with:

  • Refuse Breath Demand contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear requiring that he attend Provincial Court in Timmins on January 10th to answer to the charges laid against him.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service at a Cedar Street tavern in Timmins on the afternoon of December 24th in response to a patron who had allegedly struck two of the tavern employees.

Upon arrival at the scene, the officers found the suspect was being restrained by other tavern patrons.

The investigation into the occurrence revealed that the suspect had allegedly become verbally abusive towards another patron of the tavern.

When notified that he would no longer be served and had to vacate the premises, the suspect is further alleged to have stuck a waitress in the arm and struck another tavern employee to the facial area. The suspect was restrained by other patrons awaiting police arrival.

Both assaults resulted in minor injury to the victims.

The suspect had been identified and arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, Jeffrey SABOURIN, 45, of Timmins has been charged with:

  • Two counts of Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Cause Disturbance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for Wednesday morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
