The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into an occurrence involving an allegation of a local man being in possession of a concealed weapon.

It is alleged that, during the early evening hours of January 3rd, a male person, known to the police, was approached and interviewed by a foot patrol officer of the Timmins Police Service.

The man was identified and arrested by the Timmins Police Service on the strength of an existing arrest warrant. While being searched in keeping with established arrest procedures, a weapon was located on the man’s person.

As a result, Justin SUTHERLAND, 33, of Timmins has been charged with:

– One count of Possession of a Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– One count of Possess Weapon – Contrary to Prohibition Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– One count of Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for Wednesday morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
