On January 10, 2017 at 7:39 a.m., the South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to investigate a collision involving a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) on Highway 101, east of the Nighthawk Bridge.

The investigation determined that ice falling from the roof of an oncoming vehicle caused the windshield of the CMV to shatter.  The CMV lost control ending up in the ditch. The driver of the CMV was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he is being treated for minor injuries.

The OPP would like to remind the public to ensure their vehicle, including roofs, windows and lights are clear of ice and snow prior to leaving.
