Northern College has reached a milestone achievement in its history.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the college and of the Ontario college system. Northern kicked off the celebration in January with faculty and staff and now welcomes everyone to be a part of the excitement in 2017.

Special events and activities celebrating this milestone will be taking place at each campus location throughout the year. Colleges Ontario is also planning a number of province-wide festivities, including a community week in the spring and a mobile exhibit in the fall.

“I’m very proud of Northern College for continuing to be guided by an unwavering commitment to student success, high-quality programs, and successful relationships with the community,” said Fred Gibbons, President of Northern College. “I invite you to take part in the activities that are planned for this year that celebrate the start of something amazing by honouring the achievements of our first 50 years.”

Since 1967, Northern has significantly expanded its programming, facilities, classroom technology and partnerships while remaining dedicated to meeting the changing needs of students, industry and community.

Today, Northern remains rooted in its belief ‘your college, your community’ and strives to effect a dynamic learning environment for the benefit of its students, and ultimately, for the benefit of the communities in northeastern Ontario.
