The way your child rides the school bus could be in for a change.

Transport Canada is playing with the idea of putting seat belts on school buses across Canada, an idea to improve safety for kids caught up in severe crashes.

First Student Canada’s Cindy Leclair likes the idea, but says the school boards may not be so open to the idea because they’d have to pay for them.

She also points out another supervisor would have to be on the bus to help with seat belts when the driver is preoccupied.

There have been no child fatalities on a school bus since 2008.
