The Timmins Police Service responded to a structure fire at an apartment building located on Birch Street North in Timmins on Saturday evening.

None of the occupants sustained injury while being evacuated.

As a result, the structure sustained considerable damage and all occupants of the structure have been displaced.

The local Red Cross is assisting the displaced persons with support and temporary lodging.

The scene of the fire has been released by the Timmins Police – Criminal Investigations Division as their investigation into the incident has ruled out foul play.

Based on findings retrieved at the scene by the Timmins Fire Department and Timmins Police Service investigators, the root cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental in nature.

The matter is deemed closed by the Timmins Police Service.
