The festival steering committee announced the addition to the two-and-a-half day festival , a stun show from Summer Water Sports from Port Carling, Ontario.  Tourism Manager, Guy Lamarche says it’ll be a high-flying show for sure.The Kayak Challenge is going up, up, and away.

“Summer Water Sports will be coming to Timmins during the challenge on Sunday to do  three 40-minute stunt shows on the Mattagami River, waterskiing and flyboarding.”

D&L Towing and Garment and Signs R Us are sponsoring the show and Garment and Signs R Us owner, Justin Richardson says it’s all part of the cause.

“Everybody form every wage bracket can go to this event.  It’s not just for the people but it’s for the children.”

The shows generally featuring wakeboarding, water skiing stunts and acrobatics, barefoot skiing, and flyboarding – water jets propelling the user into the air using water.

Lamarche says as of today 49 corporate sonsors are on board with $80,550 in cash donations $62,250 in kind services, and almost $10,000 in prizes.

Mayor Steve Black says the sponsorship level is outstanding, considering how far the event has come in so little time.  He also spoke on growing need for tourism in TImmins.

“Tourism has been in the headlines but that’s as a results of people failing to see tourism is about providing quality events for the residents as well.  It’s the fundamental goal of the department when we bring in out of town residents to the festival, it’s just another perk to that but also about  the residents of Northern Ontario have the quality of life we enjoy.”

Lamarche also confirmed this year’s musical acts of Canadian bands, Helix and Honeymoon Suite.

As for the show stunt, there will be three 40-minute shows on Sunday the 28th of August.
