New iPads in DSB-ONE schools are already proving their worth.

Since handing out 2,600 iPads to grade 7 through 10 students this school year,  school board chair, Doug Shearer says they’ve seen major improvements in student engagement.

“Teacher’s are finding their ability to provide better and faster feedback and recognizing students having problems is greatly improving.”

He says students are having fun learning with apps and there’s been particularly great success with special needs students.  He adds some are now able to vocalize themselves and participate more often.

iPad  coaches have also been designated to help the students and teachers catch up to the technology.

Shearer says there are also plans to eventually give the iPads to grade 11 and 12 students in the very near future.
