walmart sidewalkAnother year, another 12 months that we will not see a sidewalk being built to accommodate some shoppers in the west end.

Timmins city council has decided not to have a sidewalk going from the Timmins Square to Walmart, citing they will group it in with their Connecting Link study.

They say it doesn’t make sense and isn’t responsible to build it, and then possibly having to re-do it in a full reconstruction of the 21km stretch in the near future.

The sidewalk itself would cost around $750,000.

Instead, the money will be part of the $1.5-million the city is spending for the Aquatic Centre feasibility study.  The other $750,000 will come from money the city planned to put into a reserve fund for future infrastructure.
