Timmins Police Official-Badge

The Timmins Police Service, in consultation with the Timmins Crown Attorney’s office, have laid one count of Manslaughter and one count of Criminal Negligence Causing Death contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada against a 30 year old man, and a 25 year old woman, both of Timmins.

The charges stem from a November 2015 incident where the Timmins Police Service was called to the Timmins and District Hospital regarding a deceased 7 week old infant.

The charges are the result of a comprehensive investigation undertaken by the Timmins Police Service.

A post mortem had been conducted on the infant in November in Sudbury at the direction of the local coroner and in keeping with investigative practices.

Original charges of Fail To Provide the Necessities of Life have been withdrawn against the 2 accused persons.

The names of the accused persons and the victim are being withheld in keeping with a publication ban issued by the presiding court.

In the course of the investigation by the Timmins Police Service, two other children were removed and relocated to a place of safety.
