It could be a heated Timmins city council meeting this upcoming Tuesday, as the latest agenda has been posted…one that notes a recommendation to have another eight-day Stars and Thunder festival in 2018.

And the proposed gross budget? $5.75 million dollars.

According to the council package, the eight days would take us from Sunday, June 24th to Sunday, July 1st.

The budget would include $2 million dollars on entertainment, $500,000 on stage and production costs and $200,000 on fireworks—though that budget could go up to $325,000 if the city approves utilizing the $125,000 in fireworks left over from 2017.

Just to put it out there for those looking to start rumours, Timmins’ Shania Twain recently released her tour schedule. And while she will be in Canada during that time, she is booked for stops in Ottawa and Montreal on June 25-26, Quebec City on the 28th and Hamilton on July 1st.

As for some of the changes proposed, the Mayor is looking at reduced ticket prices for children 10 and under, refillable water stations and well…we could analyze the whole thing, but we’ll let you take a look into this and wait until Tuesday.
