City council isn’t exactly looking to make waves with a potential new Aquatic Centre.

During Monday night council meeting, it came to light the early designs on a new Aquatic Centrebe back in the city’ hands by the end of May.  The consulting firm retained by the city, Sierra Planning and Management said if any more design work is needed, now is the time to get it in.

Design work for two sites are coming back to council, a new building on Highway 655 and renovating the existing Archie Dillon Sportsplex.  Council agreed the Sportsplex would be the ideal location due to it being central with ample parking.

Council is rejecting the idea of building a centre on McLean Dr.  Sierra Planning and Management would then have to come in with more public consultations and that would cost around $17,000 each.

Council is also keeping the design works simple by only asking for plans on an Aquatic Centre without other extensions like an extra ice pad.
