A 32-year old snowmobile driver is facing charges after a collision Friday involving a snowmobile and a vehicle near Moneta and Railway Street.

Timmins Police report that the snowmobile was traveling on the roadway, when it struck the rear of a vehicle that came to a stop.

There were no injuries, but the unnamed snowmobile driver faces charges of Fail to report circumstances of collision, Drive with no insurance and Follow too closely.

TPS have also released a statement regarding snowmobiles on city streets.

“Riding on City streets is not permitted, and can result in collisions as demonstrated in the incident above.” they say. “The only streets permitted for snowmobile travel are the streets which make up part of the OFSC trail system, once trails become available. Please note that the OFSC trails remain closed at this time.”

“Being aware of, and abiding by all applicable laws and regulations is the responsibility of every snowmobiler operator, and will ensure a safe riding season for everyone.”
