Ontario Provincial Police have made arrests in two separate cases in the region, one a $100,000 drug bust in Kirkland Lake and the other regarding sexual offenses involving a child in Kapuskasing.

In Kirkland Lake, OPP units executed five search warrants and seized undisclosed amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana.

29-year old Patrick Couture Lemelin of Kirkland Lake faces two counts of Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance—one for cocaine and one for under 30 grams of marijuana—and Fail to Comply with Recognizance.

He’s been remanded into custody pending a bail hearing at an unspecified date.

Meantime, a 52-year old man from Kapuskasing has been arrested and charged after allegations that he “would have committed sexual acts on a child.”

The man—who cannot be identified to protect the victim’s identity—was charged with Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 years of age and Sexual Interference.

He was released on a Recognizance of Bail and is set to appear in court on January 8th in Kapuskasing.
