On June 18, City of Timmins residents are invited and encouraged to dispose of their hazardous and special waste free of charge.

The Municipal Hazardous and Special Waste Day is back, taking place on Saturday, June 18 from 8am-2pm in the parking lot of the Archie Dillon Sportsplex.

“Offering this service allows us to keep hazardous household waste from entering the landfill sites, protect our environment, and keep chemicals from potentially entering our water table,” said Environmental Compliance Coordinator Scott Tam.

Items being collected include: paint, flammable and miscellaneous organics, aerosols, single-use batteries, single-use propane cylinders and refillable propane tanks, oxidizers, pesticides, antifreeze, oil filters, inorganic acids and bases, fuel and oil, sharps, pharmaceuticals, compact fluorescents and fluorescent tubes, and household electronics.
