Learn to Bake a Pie and Help Support Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins!

We look forward to warmly welcoming guests to the 7th Inspired Cooking workshop in support of Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins (ACT)! Dr. Erin Thomson will be our featured guest chef, shedding light and love on the delicious art of homemade pie!

No food is more imbued with creativity, love — and a fair bit of mystique — than pie! If you crave the accomplishment of creating something beautiful and tasty with your hands, but tremble with trepidation at the mystery that is sometimes pastry, then this is the workshop for you!

Participants will have hands-on practice with pointers and techniques for making a flaky pastry for cooked double crust pies. Erin will also demonstrate techniques to make fancy decorative tarts with cut-outs, special edges and lattice work. She’ll also show how to blind bake a pie shell for delicious desserts like custard, cream or curd pies. And as a bonus, Erin will demonstrate and prepare vanilla custard accompaniments for tasting!

Participants will take home recipes, pie and the enormous satisfaction of learning a skill they can use to share love with their family and friends.

Proceeds to support the food security work of Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins.
