Goldcorp is keeping operations at the Dome Mine running past 2016.

The increase in the price of gold is being credited for the reversal to close the mine in October.

The announcement comes seven months after the company planned to shut down underground operations because of the low price of gold.

The Dome Mine has been producing gold in the region for over 100 years and the mining giant says this decision should create stability for the nearly 120 employees and around 80 contractors still employed.
