**CITY OF TIMMINS NEWS RELEASE**

As we enter into ‘construction season,’ the City of Timmins would like to remind all residents of By-law 1984-2174, respecting obstructing and encumbering of streets.

When it is necessary to use a City street, sidewalk, or laneway for your activity, a Street Occupancy Permit is required.

A permit can be obtained from the City Website (http://www.timmins.ca/download/forms/permits-forms/Street-Occupation-Application-2018-B.pdf) or by calling the Engineering Department (705-360-2645) or by visiting the Engineering Department at 236 Algonquin Blvd. East.

Typical activities requiring permitting would include:
– Construction activities where a lane is close, road is closed, etc.
– Placing fixed objects (i.e. pallets of brick, load of gravel) onto the side of the roadway
– Blocking a roadway, sidewalk, laneway, parking stall
– Using a scissor lift on the sidewalk
– Roll of bin/Sea Can on the roadway/laneway

We thank you for your cooperation in maintaining the safety of City of Timmins residents.
