**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service was called to the scene of an alleged fraud at a local business during the noon hour of Saturday, May 26th.
 
Based on the investigation into the fraud, a male party is alleged to have tried to use a stolen cheque to secure funds from the business.
 
Based on police investigation, the cheque in question was determined to be stolen property.
Based on information provided, a male person was arrested a short while later, when located by the Timmins Police Service.
 
As a result, Jordan EDWARDS, 31, of Timmins, is charged with
– 1 count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 354(1) (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
– 1 count of Make a False Statement in Writing contrary to section 361(1)(c) of the Criminal Code of Canada
 
The arrested person was held for a bail hearing slated to take place this morning (May 28th) at Provincial Court in Timmins.
